July 2009 Optometrist licensure examination

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Wednesday that 163 out of 263 passed the Optometrist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Optometry in Manila this July, 2009.

The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places in the July 2009 Optometrist Licensure Examination – 6 Years — are led by 1st placer, Cristina Bernadette Ilag Adriano of Manila Central University-Caloocan with a rating of 88.06 percent.

The others are Mariel Johara Sosa Resus of Centro Escolar University- Manila with 87.01 percent; Michael Soliman Paroli of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 86.14 percent; Gay Bautista Agnote of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 84.88 percent; Joann Valerie Marquez Nuevo of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 84.67 percent; Ronald Mervin Perez Sison of Cebu Doctors University with 84.63; Kris Edward Manalastas Aguirre of Manila Central University-Caloocan with 84.23 percent; Abegail Manalastas Yumul of Manila Central University-Caloocan with 83.34 percent; Stephanie Katherine Lim Kho of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 83.12 percent, and Gale-Bianca Aguinaldo Sioco of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 82.59 percent.

The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places in the July, 2009 Optometrist Licensure Examination – 4 Years are led by Jennirose Caligner Garcia of Davao Doctors College, Inc. with a rating of 88.19 percent.

Others are Wenzel Ann Kalinga Luceros of Centro Escolar University- Manila with 84.81 percent; Rex Navarro Ramos of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 84.55 percent; James Velarde Monterola of Mindanao Medical Foundation College with 83.83 percent; Joffrey de Guzman Villanueva of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 83.59 percent; Shellie Tongpo Bayona of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 83.37 percent; Evelyn Ramos Juanillo of De Ocampo Memorial Colleges with 83.12 percent; Scarlet Garcia Manansala of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 82.90 percent; Sylvia Pamela Juan Samiley of Centro Escolar University-Manila with 82.83 percent, and Maria Lourdes Arbesa Arpon of Centro Escolar University-Manila, 82.48 percent.

On the Board of Optometry which gave the examinations are Dr. Anita S. Villarta, chairwoman; and Dr. Divinia Lourdes R. Reyes and Dr. Noel L. Santos, members. The results were released in two working days from the last day of examinations.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Monday, August 10, 2009 but not later than August 14, 2009. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2009-2012. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Sunday, August 23, 2009, 1:30 p.m., at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.

Membership registration with the Integrated Philippine Association of Optometrists Inc. will start on Monday, August 10, 2009.

Meanwhile, the PRC also announced that one examinee pass in the Special Certification Examination in Ocular Pharmacology for Optometrist Licensure Examination given this month.
